Courses help nurture business growth


A series of two-day training courses is being held to help companies grow their business.

The sessions are being staged by SCORE, the grants and support programme helping nurture innovation and improvement in the offshore renewable energy sector.

The courses – available to all small and medium-sized enterprises across all business sectors - are at Lowestoft on November 7-8 and December 4-5 and at Norwich on November 22-23.

They are aimed at business owners, senior or aspiring managers and geared to help delegates increase their ability to plan, manage and maximise opportunities to development profitable and effective growth.

Practical and tutored sessions will cover areas including:

  • Techniques and ideas for strategic growth

  • Innovation

  • Identifying your competitive advantage

  • Change management

  • Building effective teams

  • Identifying individual learning styles

  • Communication

  • Problem solving

The Supply Chain Innovation for Offshore Renewable Energy (SCORE) programme, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), provides grant and supporting help to companies across England to develop new products, processes and ideas which bring economic benefit to the East of England.

SCORE project manager Rob Bush said: “Growth and innovation are so important for businesses to ensure they don’t stagnate and keep ‘ahead of the curve’ – particularly in the offshore renewables sector where technology and systems are changing all the time to drive new techniques and business systems.

“This region has some brilliant companies with so many ideas and so much potential and SCORE is proud to be giving business people the tools to take their ventures to the next level.”

Course details are:

November 7-8, OrbisEnergy, Wilde Street, Lowestoft

November 22-23 Rouen House, Rouen Road, Norwich

December 4-5, Orbis Energy, Lowestoft

They all run from 9.30am-4.30pm with registration at 9am.

SCORE also runs a grants programme to help develop new products, processes and technologies. The current programme is delivered by OrbisEnergy in partnership with enterprise specialists Nwes, energy industry experts Nautilus Associates and the national Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult centre.
