SMART SHIPPING TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT THE INTERNATIONAL SHIPOWNING AND SHIPMANAGEMENT SUMMIT


Major players from global shipowning, shipmanagement and associated service industries such as satellite communications and maritime clusters are among the confirmed speakers at the Fourth International Shipowning and Shipmanagement Summit (ISSS), to be held during London International Shipping Week 2017.

Chaired by Bjørn Jebsen, InterManager President and Managing Director of Jebsen Management, ISSS will focus on the relationship between disruptive technologies and the pressures on managers to deliver what ship ownersand cargo owners want.

Ship owners and ship managers will ask pertinent questions such as: Can technology be effective in reducing cost?

Today’s shipping industry is undergoing a massive change with disruptive technology, GDPR and safe manning hoping to ensure the sustainability of the ship management sector. As the demands continue to grow, the summit will address how owners and managers should address these and what needs to be done to ensure a smooth transition into a digital era of shipping.

A key panel debate will examine how third party managers can strengthen their relationship with ship owners and cargo owners and increase their share of the vessel management market.

One of the questions panellists will be discussing is ‘Can technology be effective in reducing cost and improving compliance in areas of electronic money; Maintenance Records on board ship; Sustainable/Operational Manning Levels and the management of unmanned ships?’.

ISSS is organised by Shipping Innovation and InterManager.
