Damen Shipyards Group in cooperation with its luxury yacht builder AMELS has awarded Alewijnse Marine company Admarel the contract for the complete supply of the advanced electrical systems on board the new expedition yacht SeaXplorer 77. The SeaXplorer 77 is exceptionally sophisticated, being capable of supporting extreme sports and remote exploration in both polar and equatorial latitudes with a particular emphasis on helicopter operations. The construction will take place at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania, with the outfitting taking place in 2019 / 2020 at Amels in the Netherlands.
Admarel is delivering a complete suite of AV/ IT, CCTV and internal communication systems, including the VSAT and TVRO systems. The company, part of the system integrator Alewijnse Marine, has specialist skills in the design, supply and maintenance of the electronics systems that keep superyachts safe, secure and connected to the wider world.
Supporting the client
During the sales process for SeaXplorer 77, Admarel acted as a trusted advisor for the clients, working closely with their project team to fully understanding their needs. The result is a technical solution which is future proof through using the latest technologies available in the market. An example of this is the specification of a virtual audio and video matrix using network technology to meet the clients’ demands.

Experience in yachts
Admarel has extensive experience in designing and installing electrical systems for luxury yachts, with particular expertise in security, lighting, IT, navigation, communications and audio-visual entertainment systems. “The order from Damen is a perfect fit with our portfolio,” continues Stefan Nieuwenhuys. “Besides navigation and communication systems, Admarel is rapidly establishing a position as a technological leader in AV/IT, lighting control and security systems for the yachting market using high-end solutions.”
Admarel is active in designing, installing and commissioning systems of these types on yachts ranging from 50 to 90+ meters. In 2018, Admarel has already delivered three yachts with AV/IT packages on board and is currently working on another six yachts in build at several of the Netherlands’ world-class superyacht yards.
