The Interest And Demand For The Portbin Tide Has Been Increasing In The Last Months

The Portbin tide is now used in all 4 countries of  the UK, including Guernsey, there are now over 10 units working well in each of the  locations across the UK.  Another shallow model has arrived this week to be put to use in Swansea.

Littering is having an impact on water quality in our ports. Some areas are becoming increasingly polluted. There is too much waste floating around ports. The Portbin tide familly of products provde a set of simple, effective cleaning tools that will bring environmental and social benefits through cleaning the area’s at a port where marine litter collects.

One of the key advantages of the Portbin tide is that they do not require any frame to hold the unit in place(with the exception of the XL model). The shallow and standard type of units come with a non inflatable guide boom that is part of the system and has an ideal rope mooring point to fix the Portbin to the quayside in a marina or harbour - making all models easilly movable. The other great point is that the Portbin main body and guide boom are manufactured from recycled PEHD.

Having a 30 litre basket and not a mesh (for the shallow and standard models) should any marine life end up in the Portbin tide it will be able swim in and out of the unit and will not be caught in the mesh.

The Portbin tide is best placed in an area that contains marine litter, i.e plastics, fastfood wrappers, nets, nylon rope, cans etc and only needs 230v to operate.  When the basket is full it will need to be emptied and some of the collected waste can be recycled.

The XL unit has got a 1,000 litre basket and is ideal to be used in a fishing port as it will collect netting, ropes and parts of crating and packaging. It will still only need 230v but due to its size a small crane is a requirement when emptying the 1,000 litre net of marine litter.

Why not get in contact with The Zwanny team to discuss marine litter they can always come to you to provide a number of solutions for dealing with marine litter.
