ALEWIJNSE MARINE AWARDED ELECTRICAL CONTRACT FOR NEW LONG-RANGE PATROL VESSEL

Alewijnse Marine has been awarded a contract by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) for the delivery, installation, commissioning and testing of the complete electrical fit-out for a new Damen Sigma 10514 Long Range Patrol Vessel. As the project progresses, Alewijnse staff will be deployed both at the DSNS shipyard in Vlissingen and at the local foreign yard. Alewijnse is also currently working with DSNS on a two-vessel order for ships of the same class for the Indonesian navy, the first of which was delivered in April this year.

The agreement for the delivery of the complete electrical installation includes the integrated platform management system and the integrated bridge system. The work will be carried out by Alewijnse Marine Galati. The 105-metre, 2,365 tonne warship will be built using a modular system. The bridge and engine room will be built in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, with the remaining four being built at the local foreign yard with support from Damen and its specialist contractors. On completion the bridge and engine room modules will be shipped to the local foreign yard for final assembly and delivery in early 2020. The contract also requires the transfer of skills and technology from Alewijnse to the foreign yard workforce, with the goal of supporting the development of the national shipbuilding industry. “We are delighted that Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding has once again chosen Alewijnse as its partner on a highly complex naval vessel,” said Alewijnse Marine Managing Director Jaap Korf. “Our cooperation on the Indonesian programme has been highly successful and we can now bring the valuable experience gained there to this next project. We look forward to another productive partnership.” Alewijnse was worked on a wide range of naval vessels in recent years, and is currently a member of a consortium that has been shortlisted for the 12-vessel SEA 1180 Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) programme for the Australian Ministry of Defence.
