SUB MARINE SERVICES ASSISTS BAM NUTTALL DURING DOCK GATES REFURBISHMENT AT PADSTOW
As multi-disciplined marine contractors, Sub Marine Services Ltd carry out a variety of marine based operations including, but not limited to, underwater ship repair and maintenance, classification society approved in-water survey, mooring maintenance, dredging, piling, maritime civil and underwater engineering work.
SMS were recently pleased to assist BAM Nuttall (BMM JV Ltd) with the removal and replacement of the Padstow Tidal Gate in Cornwall. The gate, which provides a flood defence to Padstow Harbour, was required to be removed and refurbished on behalf of the Environment Agency to extend the life of the gate.
Site constraints limited the available positions for heavy cranes and the solution was to float the gate to a suitable location for lifting . Careful planning by BAM Nuttall’s site team and their refurbishment contractor Centregreat Engineering enabled the operations to go smoothly, and the gate to be fully reconditioned.
Dave Chapman, Engineering Director at Centregreat Engineering said:
“Can you please forward my thanks onto the dive team for the fantastic work carried out during the repositioning of the gate at Padstow. It’s a pleasure to work with SMS and I look forward to working with you all again in the future.”
